Kindergarten Fractures the Fairy Tale “Three Little Pigs”

Kindergarten students are busy preparing for their class Exhibition later this month.  Their project is a wonderful integration of earth science, literature, and art — with a dash of drama — in a clever fracturing of the fairy tale, “Three Little Pigs.”

Students are creating each element necessary for their presentation.   After learning about world habitats, students worked in groups to create a desert, jungle, ocean, or other setting for their story.  Next, they created animal masks for the characters they will portray.   Finally, they got to work on their houses, working creatively to replicate homes of wood, bricks or straw.  By the time they deliver their live performance of this classic story-with-a-twist for parents, students will have expanded their understanding of a wide variety of subjects, and had a lot of fun along the way!
