First graders at WSD are “traveling” the globe to learn about how students from other countries celebrate winter holidays. They have been working hard to acquire their tickets, passports, and travel guides so that they can explore various cultures and holiday traditions – from India to Italy, Australia to Israel, and everywhere in between! From the time they “boarded” their first airplane, there has been no stopping these world travelers, who are celebrating Christmas, Kwanzaa, a Joyeux Noel, a Buon Natale, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Diwali, and more! Each “visit” on their itineraries earns students a stamp on their passports, as well as engaging experiences doing projects, crafts, reading, mapping, and journal writing. And like most world travelers, their experiences have opened a window to many beautiful and unique cultures and traditions.
