WSD’s annual benefit dinner and auction was held on Saturday, November 11 at the St. Regis Deer Valley. This year’s theme was “Night of Discovery” and invited one and all to “reach for the stars.” Guests who attended the black-tie optional event were greeted with hors d’oeuvres and champagne as they surveyed the Silent Auction and accessed QR codes to make their bids. The Third Class Relics, made up of WSD faculty, students, and friends, played music in the background.

Once in the Ballroom, guests were served a delicious dinner and welcomed by Emcee Nathan Florence, who began the program by announcing five opportunity drawing winners. WSD Board Chair Emily Voorhees and Executive Director Steve Williams offered kind and inspiring words, followed by a performance from local star Mary Beth Maziarz of her original song, “Weilenmann, O Weilenmann.” Surprise band, Skrapz, an up-and-coming music group made up of WSD fifth graders Reef Banks, Foster Maziarz, and Miles Drake, impressed guests with their performance and practically “blew the roof” off the ballroom. Special video presentations featuring the students, teachers, and staff of WSD kicked off the Live Auction, also emceed by WSD’s Artist in Residence, Nathan Florence.

A huge thank you to all who participated by attending, volunteering, donating, purchasing, and contributing in any way to a wonderful event that raised important funds for WSD. Special thanks to Susannah Barnes, WSD’s Director of Development, for putting together this wonderful evening and making “Night of Discovery” a night to remember.
