Third graders paid tribute to some of the world’s most notable figures in their Famous…
One of the First Grade math standards asks students to count to 120 and be able to read and write numerals up to 120. To celebrate all they are learning toward that goal, students engaged in a full day of math-rich activities on what they “counted” as the 120th day of school. They completed an “All About Me on Day 120” book, wrote 120 words they found around the classroom, colored 120 combined pictures, fashioned necklaces using 120 Cheerios, counted and sorted items into 12 groups of 10, and participated in a host of other games, dances, and activities. Students also took a “field trip” within the building to discover how far 120 steps would take them if they counted by 1’s, 2’s, and 5’s. All in all, students did all they could to make this special day count!
