Winter Concerts

Middle School music students performed two Winter Concerts for WSD families and friends. The Band and Jazz Band Concert was held on January 24, under a spectacular full moon. The Orchestra and Chorus Concert was held one week later, on January 31. The concerts allowed students to showcase what they have been learning this term and practice their concert skills before a warm and welcoming audience. The programs included guest performers, soloists, and exciting and varied music selections. Students also gained experience at the mic by introducing the pieces they were about to sing or play, or by performing vocal or instrumental solos. Performing is an integral part of the performing arts and offers students the opportunity to practice hard and audiences the opportunity to recognize their hard work. As these students shared their music, they showed increased skill, confidence, and ownership of their instruments, and provided two great evenings of music.
