Personal Statement
As someone who had an unconventional student learning experience and became a teacher after a career as an entrepreneur, I have approached my career in education without the constraints of convention as well. This has allowed me to honestly evaluate the effectiveness of my pedagogy and curriculum. I believe in the power of student choice and voice. I believe that value and authenticity increase when learning extends beyond the classroom, especially in nature. I believe that all students can bring about meaningful change within their respective communities. I believe that, as a practitioner, I must actively seek out the latest research and implement best practices.
