Awesome Overnighter

A small group of Middle School students recently headed to Ogden for WSD’s annual Winter Campout. They loaded up WSD’s mobile classroom, a 10-passenger van known as “Moby,” and made their way to Dancing Moose Farm, an educational farm for ecology and sustainable living that sits on 17.5 acres near Huntsville. Students stayed in yurts, took in the spectacular scenery, and enjoyed a variety of fun winter activities.

The goals of the campout were to raise awareness for permaculture and sustainability, let the kids build friendships, and have a lot of fun,” explains Outdoor Education teacher, Cam Raguse. And there’s no better place to accomplish all of this than Dancing Moose Farms.

The students prepared meals together, sang songs, told stories, and had all kinds of fun in the abundant snow. One of their favorite moments was lying face up in the snow at night to enjoy the moon and stars. Never underestimate those simple pleasures.
