WSD’s annual benefit dinner and auction was held on Saturday, November 12 at the St. Regis Deer Valley. This year’s theme was “Night on the Nile” and celebrated the mysteries of Ancient Egypt, including the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb.

Guests walked – and dressed – like an Egyptian, and found their way to the Astor Ballroom foyer to enjoy an hour of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and the opportunity to bid on over 90 silent auction items. Once in the Ballroom, guests enjoyed dinner and were treated to a performance by the “Discovery Band,” a rock band made up of WSD Middle School students. Remarks were shared by Executive Director Steve Williams and Board Chair Emily Voorhees, and a new song written especially for WSD was performed by local singer and songwriter, Mary Beth Maziarz. A special video presentation featuring the students, teachers, and staff of WSD kicked off the Live Auction, which was emceed by Nathan Florence, WSD’s Artist in Residence.

A huge thank you to all who participated by attending, volunteering, donating, purchasing, and contributing in any way to a wonderful event that raised important funds for WSD. Special thanks to Susannah Barnes, WSD’s Director of Development, for putting together this wonderful evening and bringing “Night on the Nile” to life.
