Since the announcement that Christian McKay Heidicker will be WSD’s “Writer In Residence” during the 2021-22 school year, students have been eager to meet the author and learn more about him. Christian is the author of the Newbery Honor-winning Scary Stories for Young Foxes, the Thieves of Weirdwood series, Cure for the Common Universe, and Attack of the 50 Foot Wallflower, all for middle or young adult readers. Recently, three WSD students — Lucy Stewart, Phoebe Zaniello, and Sam Hodson — sat down to interview Christian via Google Meet to discuss his journey as a writer, his published titles and upcoming projects, and how it feels to be an awarded children’s author.
