WSD was thrilled to welcome back students, families, and friends to Open Mic Night on March 25, after a pandemic-created hiatus of more than two years.
“It was so much fun to have students share their music with us again in the relaxed format of an open mic,” remarked Executive Director, Steve Williams. “We had a great turnout for the event, which included a wide variety of performances from students across grade levels.”
Emcees from the Middle School kept the program moving, introducing 14 performances ranging from Brahms to The Beatles and including jazz, classical, pop, rock, classic rock, epic ballad, and musical theater.
“Every performance was impressive,” continues Director Williams. “The audience was warm and approving, and that made for an ideal setting for students – some of whom were performing for the first time in public – to be vulnerable and to put themselves out there.”
The event was a great success and fans can look forward to our next Open Mic Night in fall 2022.
