Beyond the Classroom

The faculty and staff at Weilenmann School of Discovery used a Professional Development Day to step away from our desks and into the community to support the incredible work being done at Neighborhood House in Salt Lake City. This was more than just a day out of the office – it was an opportunity to live our values, strengthen our bonds as colleagues, and contribute to a cause outside our walls.

“We wanted to roll up our sleeves, have some fun, and see what we could achieve when we work together for the greater good,” explains Elizabeth Phillips, WSD Lower School Principal and the day’s organizer.  “It turned out to be an incredible day for us!

Stepping outside our usual professional roles allowed us to connect in different ways while making a tangible impact on our community. Whether we were cleaning rooms, washing windows, sweeping, organizing, or leafblowing, we hope our efforts will leave a lasting footprint. Terra Brown, WSD Office Manager, sums it up:

“To be part of such an amazing WSD team and to have such a special opportunity at Neighborhood House – it was the best PD Day ever!!”
