It was standing room only at WSD’s school-wide Talent Show on March 27! Nearly 30…
WSD welcomed families and friends to the 15th annual Spring Arts Festival on May 29. One of our biggest on-campus events, the Festival celebrates student accomplishments in art, music, and dance, while raising important funds for WSD. The student art show featured 2-D and 3-D works that aligned with curricular studies from the past year, supported by WSD’s partnership with the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program. In the same space, guests browsed a silent auction of generously donated items and services. In the Auditorium, students performed dances by grade level to original choreography, followed by a live auction of art projects from each class.
The event had two notable additions this year. To start the festivities, two student rock bands performed songs that got the audience on its feet and set the tone for a great time! Visitors were also able to immerse themselves in a “Glow Room,” where Lower School students had recreated the mountains, creek, and creatures that make up our school’s natural surroundings. Called “Weilenmann at Night,” every object in the room was painted with fluorescent paint and lit with blacklights, causing them to glow. The effect was stunning!
Student art work and performances were amazing, attendance was at capacity, and parents outdid themselves in their support! Thanks to Susannah Barnes and her committee for organizing every aspect of this much loved event, to Jeff Cohen as this year’s Emcee and Auctioneer, and to all those who contributed in any way to the success of this year’s Spring Arts Festival.
