WSD’s annual benefit dinner and auction was held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the…
It was standing room only at WSD’s school-wide Talent Show on March 27! Nearly 30 separate acts showcased student dancers, singers, musicians, rock bands, gymnasts, athletes, cheerleaders, comedians, and more! The event was planned by Alethea Mallia and Mason Thomas of the Music Department, along with Lower School Principal Elizabeth Phillips (who even accepted a “headstand challenge” from one of the gymnast acts during the show!).
All students, families, and talents were invited to audition. Each act had to be between 1-5 minutes long, fully prepared, and family appropriate. Talent acts that passed the audition had 1-2 weeks to practice and polish in time for the big performance. In addition to providing the performances, students also handled all the lights and sound, emceed the event, and brought up each act when it was time to go on.
“I love that the Talent Show itself was run entirely by students,” observes Ms. Mallia. “They did an amazing job and it made the whole evening that much more impressive.”
Equally impressive was the show of support by our school community, who came out to cheer on students, regardless of whether their own were performing! We are grateful for the students, staff, and families who made this an unforgettable evening, and for the continued support and engagement we feel from our incredible WSD families. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
