Our Parents

Weilenmann School of Discovery understands that students’ school success increases with parents who are engaged in their child’s education. Weilenmann School of Discovery welcomes parent influence in school traditions, events, fundraising efforts, special projects, and the positive character and atmosphere of our school. Weilenmann School of Discovery is a community of educators and families working together to create a nurturing, challenging, enjoyable, and safe elementary and middle school experience.

Parent Association

All WSD parents are automatically part of the Parent Association, which is dedicated to keeping parents informed and involved, and to offering support for events, fundraisers, and ongoing programs at the school.

Parent Association Meetings

The Parent Association holds meetings on the second Wednesday of each month from 8:30 – 9:30am in the Library. All WSD parents are invited to attend. See the calendar for scheduled meetings.

Volunteer

Please consider volunteering through the Parent Association. It’s a great way to get to know the school and its programs, and to meet other parents in our WSD community. The Parent Association sponsors various events and fundraisers throughout the school year and coordinates all parent volunteer efforts. You can sign up to chair or support a committee, serve on the Parent Association board, help out with a special event, or become a regular classroom or library volunteer.

Prospective volunteers should take a moment to complete the Volunteer Policy and Agreement Form and return it to the front office.

Log Your Volunteer Hours

Keeping track of volunteer hours assists us in obtaining grants and other funding that sustain our school. It also helps us acknowledge the great work and the many hours donated to WSD by dedicated families and friends. Whether you are working with us on campus or volunteering from home, be sure to log your hours in ParentSquare.

LAND Trust - School Improvement Plan

The School LAND Trust Program, established by the legislature in 1999, distributes the “annual dividend” from the permanent State School Fund through school districts and charter schools for all public schools in the state. Elected parents, elected teachers, and the school’s principal serve on School Community Councils. School Community Councils in each school prepare a plan to address the school’s greatest academic need. Local School Boards approve the plans, and funding is sent to each school with an approved plan before the school year begins. The program is paperless and visible on the web at www.schoollandtrust.org.

Blue Sky Program

The Blue Sky Renewable Energy Program, in partnership with Rocky Mountain Power, chose Weilenmann School of Discovery to receive solar panels for our building.

Each year Rocky Mountain Power and its Blue Sky customers sponsor the installation of community-based, non-residential renewable energy projects in the company’s service area. The goals of the program include influencing the future of energy production, encouraging the development of new renewable energy in our region (benefitting local economies), preserving the environment, and conserving resources for future generations.

WSD has also enrolled in the Blue Sky Energy Program. Once a customer enrolls in the Blue Sky Program, Rocky Mountain Power purchases renewable energy certificates from newly developed renewable energy facilities. The electricity from these facilities is delivered to the regional power grid. These purchases also support new renewable energy facilities.

Fraud Hotline

The State Auditor Hotline provides an avenue for citizens, including public employees and contractors, to report their concerns about potentially improper governmental activities.

The Park City Chamber of Commerce

WSD is a member of the Park City Chamber of Commerce, whose mission is to promote our area as a historic, mountain resort community. The PCCC offers an authentic spirit of welcome and hospitality, and is the only organization in Summit County dedicated solely to enhancing the local business environment.
