Do you have questions about what is going on regarding the building, playground, parking and fundraising efforts toward these goals? Do you want to understand better why there is fundraising at our school? If so, please watch this short video by two of our volunteer board parents.
Am I expected to give to the Weilenmann School of Discovery?
No, giving is optional although we hope that every family will contribute to the fund. Participation is the key! A united effort helps us to successfully apply for external funding. Funding sources such as corporations and foundations often want to know the percentage of parents that have contributed. This is important: the higher the percentage of giving, the more favorably external funding sources will consider our applications.
When determining your gift, consider that a private school education of this caliber costs $10,000 – $15,000 a year, per student. And, perhaps most importantly, remember that we are truly grateful for every gift. Every gift counts. Every gift makes a difference.
Is fundraising unique to the Weilenmann School of Discovery?
No. All independent schools, universities and colleges rely on the generosity and loyalty of their community. Very few schools, colleges, or universities have the ability to sustain their school with public funds.
What’s the longer term plan for fundraising?
In the 2011-2012 year the fundraising committee plans to launch a Capital Campaign that will address a specific and large-scale capital need. Funding for a new building or adjacent land could be an example of the goal of the campaign. The WSD Board will announce this campaign in May 2011.
Beyond giving, how can I get involved?
