Utah Authors Visit Weilenmann School

To celebrate Literacy Week (January 23 – 27), Weilenmann School hosted two author events on Tuesday, January 24. Matthew Kirby spoke to students in grades 4 – 8 about his fantasy novels for middle readers, The Clockwork Three (recently optioned for a motion picture) and Icefall. Kirby is a school psychologist in northern Utah whose passion for history inspires his writing. Following a brief question and answer period, the author held a book signing for interested students.

The celebrated picture book team of Caralyn and Mark Buehner delighted students in grades K – 3 as they presented stories and storyboards of some of their most popular books. Author Caralyn Buehner read aloud I Did It, I’m Sorry, and gave the inspiration behind Snowmen at Night and the “Snowman” series. With a white board and highlighters, illustrator Mark Buehner drew pictures for a sample storyboard while students suggested story ideas. At the conclusion of their visit, the Buehners presented the Weilenmann School Library with a framed picture of a Snowman to remember them by.
