Board of Directors Update – November 15, 2011

On October 5th, 2011, the Summit County Council voted to re-zone a large parcel of property adjacent to our school and allow a residential development project to proceed. Based on input from our administration and parents, the WSD board has a safety concern about the zoning change, since it permits the use of our driveway as an access point for the developer’s construction vehicles. Any interested party who disagrees with a change in zoning may object to the change within 30 days, and so November 4th, 2011, the board authorized filing suit against Summit County to contest the zoning change. In filing this lawsuit, we are not taking a position on the development that would be permitted under the new zoning, per se. By contesting the zoning, we expect that any zoning that ultimately may occur will better address our safety concern. We will keep you abreast of future developments as they relate to the lawsuit. In the meantime, feel free to e-mail email hidden; JavaScript is required with any questions.

Thank you,

The Weilenmann School Board of Directors
